Karma411 is proud to share the success of two different campaigns that are both supporting the same cause. Members of The Woodlands Community Temple and The Dobbs Ferry Lutheran Church have both created campaigns on Karma411 to promote efforts of rebuilding in a town in Mississippi, where residents are still recovering from the damages of Hurricane Katrina. Together, they have raised almost 10,000 dollars and their support has gone a long way in helping Katrina victims.
“One thing I like to emphasize is that our Karma Online promotions have increased awareness at our church and in doing so have bumped up the “offline” gifts as well.”
– David Langdone of the Evangilical Lutheran Church
Supporters of these campaigns are heading down to Mississippi to do the relief work that they’ve been raising the funds for. Karma411 would like to wish them the best of luck!

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010Karma411 – SEO ideas for Nonprofits
Wednesday, February 24th, 2010Nonprofits, do you ever ask, “How do I get my website higher on google search results?” The simple answer is Search Engine Optimization or SEO. SEO is a set of best practices and procedures which help increase your appearance rate on various search engines.
Over the past decade, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) has become an area of ongoing development. There is no set formula or official rulebook to increase your SEO, which has made SEO tips and tricks a professional art. Nonprofits need to be aware of these methods and tips just as much as for profit companies. So many nonprofits have already spent enormous amounts of time and money to get get a head-start in the race to the top. Then there are others who have never even heard the term. Either way there is no time to waste on learning about SEO.
In order to brand your organization in people’s minds, there are many procedures that need to be followed. In the past, those consisted of “purchase a billboard” or “publish a newspaper ad,” now it’s more like “tweet daily” and “raise your ‘PageRank.’” Most organizations don’t even know their own pagerank, let alone how to raise it. The nonprofits who are interested in raising their SEO are now turning to consultants or professionals on SEO to increase their online presence.
Many organizations aren’t aware of how important these tools are, and so they don’t know that they need this service. Research has shown that the one of the greatest barriers to raising awareness online is the lack of SEO knowledge and Social Media proficiency.
